Alberta Struggling At Scotties |

Alberta
fell to 2-3 at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts after an 8-5 loss last night to
New Brunswick. Alberta is one of six teams with two wins at the
Scotties. Team Canada and BC lead the pack at 4-1... followed by Manitoba,
Saskatchewan, and New Brunswick all at 3-2. Attendance wise... more than
33-thousand fans have passed through the gates at the Enmax Centrium... an
average of close to 4200 per draw. Draw number nine goes at 8:30 this
morning.

Falloon scored in overtime, giving the Bentley Generals a 4-3 win over the Horse
Lake Chiefs yesterday at the Red Deer Arena. That evens their
best-of-seven Senior AAA provincial semifinal series at one game apiece.
Horse Lake won 6-5 in overtime in the series opener Sunday in Bentley.
Stony Plain leads the other semifinal series two games to none over the Sylvan
Lake Admirals.

their 2-1-1 BC road trip, the Red Deer Rebels still sit seven points out of a
playoff spot in the WHL Eastern Conference. The Rebels return to game
action Friday night when they kick off a four game Saskatchewan road trip in
Prince Albert.

More tough news for the Red Deer Rebels as they lose yet another player to a
long-term injury. Forward Joel Hamilton was hit awkwardly into the boards
in the third period of Saturday's 8-5 loss to Moose Jaw at the Enmax
Centrium. Hamilton suffered two fractured vertebrae and will be out a
minimum of four weeks. The Rebels head out of town this evening and kick
off their four-game BC road trip in Prince George on
Wednesday. |

Midget AAA Rebels Clinch Division |

The Red Deer Optimist Rebels clinched first place in the Chrysler (south)
division of the Alberta Midget Hockey League with wins 5-0 over the UFA Bisons
on Saturday and 8-2 over the Edmonton KC Pats on Sunday. In that game,
Scott Feser led the scoring attack with two goals and two assists. The
Optimist Rebels can clinch first overall in the AMHL with a win over Lethbridge
next Sunday.

It
was an Alberta sweep at the Canadian Junior Curling Championship in
Ontario. Red Deer's foursome of Jocelyn Peterman, Brittany Tran, Rebecca
Konschuh and Kristine Anderson won the junior women's title with a 12-6 win over
Manitoba on Saturday. Alberta also won the junior men's title yesterday
led by Edmonton skip Brendan Bottcher.
