5. Played a LOT of Slo-Pitch. Whether it be with my slo-pitch team, camped out at tournaments or for the Celebrity Slo-Pitch Challenge at Great Chief Park. My ball glove got a ton of use this summer.

4. Weddings! Maybe it's because I'm a wedding rookie or still hungover from my own nuptials last year but I love weddings. I got to check out quite a few weddings this summer and really enjoy celebrating the love between two friends. A special congratulations to Darryl and Leah, who tied the knot this summer. :)
3. Developed a new appreciation for staying healthy in the summer. After being cooped up inside during my appendetomy recovery for two weeks in August, I realized every sunny day needs to be cherished. I did get through two great book series while bed-ridden - The Hunger Games and The Millennium Trilogy.
2. Convinced my husband to take me to a chick flick. I did have to pull the one year anniversary card, but I finally got my husband to take me out to a movie without a shoot-em-up or car chase scene. Although I did have to keep a VERY straight face when Ryan Gosling took off his shirt during Crazy, Stupid, Love with my husband watching me to make sure I wasn't drooling.Â
1. I hugged Pablo. Yeah, I know you're jealous. There's nothing better than seeing the happiness in kids eyes when they get to meet some of their favourite celebrities. In this case it was our grand prize winners Justice, Pheonix and Blaze getting to Meet and Greet the Backyardigans at the Memorial Centre!Â

Five Things to do in Red Deer this Summer! |
|

|
5 . Fiestaval (August 20th) A new festival to Red Deer, just in it's second year where the streets of Downtown Red Deer heat up with the sounds, smells and sights of Latin culture. Take in some entertainment like the salsa dancers and singers...delicious spicy mexican food and drinks, plus this year they're putting on a massive night party after Fiestaval as well! You can dance to the latin rythyms of the Cumbia, Merengue and Salsa, with tickets only $15 if you buy them in advance!
4. Celebrity Slo Pitch (July 16th) The boys of the CFL are back again this summer at Great Chief Park! The CFL Alumni team featuring Willy Pless, Rocco Romano, Terry Evanshen, Herm Harrison, Pee Wee Smith and more CFL greats! It's all for a good cause with proceeds helping out local charities like the fight against Prostate Cancer. They'll be playing the annual game with the Big 105 and 106.7 The Drive team. Tickets are just $15 each or $45 for a family of four. Great event to bring the whole family! www.celebrityslowpitch.com
3. Summer Day Camps at Sunnybrook Farms (July 4th - August 26th) I wish we had a camp like this in Calgary while I was growing up. Monday thru Friday, Sunnybrook Farms hosts kids camps where the little ones can travel back in time and learn all about life in the old days. The kids learn to feed chickens, make butter and even partake in some fun farm chores as well as some field trips included. Only $35/day or $165/week.
2. Yoga in the Park (Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Kin Canyon 5:30pm) All summer Bonnee and Krista will be putting on FREE yoga classes in the park. Stretch out your mind, body and soul while basking in the soothing sounds of nature.  It's for all experience levels, the more practiced yogis can still take the poses a step farther, while beginners like me get to enjoy the basic moves.  All you need to bring is a yoga mat and waterbottle! www.yogaintheparkrd.comÂ
1. Relax. If nothing else this summer, take some time for yourself. Invest in a hammock, grab a good book and give yourself a much deserved summer break...

Top Five Websites I'd Recommend |

5. http://www.jessicasimpsoncollection.com/SHOES/new-arrivals/
It's no secret. I love shoes. I'm not a huge fan of Jessica Simpson, but her fashion line is amazing and so is her shoe collection.
4. http://goop.com/
On the other hand, I am a big fan of Gwyneth Paltrow and this site has her blogs, her newsletter and features - it's very green, very earth-friendly.
3. http://www.break.com/
This is my go-to when I just need to laugh. Show me soccer bloopers, bizarre videos of dogs and squirrels and upcoming trailers. This one has all the best viral clips.
2. http://www.wenn.com/
Pretty much everything that goes on in Hollywood is documented here. As of late, I've become a fan of celeb stalking sites like Perez Hilton, The Superficial and The Hollywood Gossip
1. http://www.youtube.com/
YouTube has the capacity to make people famous. (Justin Bieber, Rebecca Black) They can't even tell you how many videos have been uploaded on YouTube because it's virtually impossible to count with millions of videos being uploaded every minute. Never a dull moment on YouTube. |

5. Led Zeppelin - My first great music love, especially after inheriting Houses of the Holy and Zeppelin IV on vinyl from my Dad on my 16th birthday. Treasured.
4. David Guetta or MGMT - Put either of these artists on if you're looking for a good dance/workout mix.
3. OneRepublic - There's not a single song on their latest album that I don't love. Â 2. Muse - Matt Bellamy is by far the most talented musician I have ever seen, and the Brit-Rock trio sounds even better live. The soon-to-be-born Baby Bellamy (Mom's Kate Hudson) will likely come out of the womb with a guitar in his hand.
1. Coldplay - Every album has a new sound and they have such a range of hits from ballads like "Fix You" to rock/dance tracks like "Viva La Vida." Hands down favourite.
